Position: Business Development Manager
Location: Flexible (In-person, Remote, or Hybrid)

Position Overview
As the Business Development Manager at JSC, you will lead and drive our growth and expand our impact in South Sudan and the region. You will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and developing compelling proposals to secure new projects. In driving our growth, you will work closely with the project and management teams and supervise staff within the business development unit. Responsibilities:
- Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification: Conduct market research to identify trends, needs, and potential clients. Identify funding opportunities from NGOs, donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients. Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and communications.
- Proposal Development: Lead the development of high-quality proposals in response to client needs and funding opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure proposals align with organizational capabilities and objectives.
- Strategic Planning- develop and execute business development strategies that align with the firm’s goals and objectives. Identify new areas for growth and expansion.
- Develop a database for researchers, consultants to facilitate the development of proposals.
- Project Implementation Support: Provide support during project implementation, including liaising with clients, monitoring project progress, and addressing any issues that arise.
- Networking and Representation: Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance visibility and build networks within the country. Establish partnerships and collaborations with other organizations to enhance our capabilities and reach.
- Maintaining a master calendar of grants and prospects along with associated files and correspondence.
- Develop an annual grants strategy, including marketing agency programs and furnishing prospective funders with supporting documentation and marketing materials.
- Maintaining a library of grant support documents, including resumes, bios, compliance, etc.
- Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets.
What You Bring:
- Post-graduate training in any of Public Health, Business Administration, Development Studies, or Project Management from a recognized university and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in business development, preferably in the research/consulting sector or related fields.
- Strong ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities for growth.
- Demonstrated superb organizational skills; diligent attention to detail and the ability to manage, plan, track and complete long-range project deadlines and goals.
