Position Overview
As a Research Consultant at JSC, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and analyzing research and evaluation projects. You will develop methodologies, create data collection tools, and oversee the execution of studies to ensure high-quality results. Your responsibilities will include analyzing data sets, interpreting findings, and providing actionable insights to clients and stakeholders. In addition, you will contribute to proposal writing, project management, and the dissemination of research outcomes through reports and presentations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive evaluation plans for public health programs and interventions.
- Develop and test data collection tools, including surveys, interviews, and focus group guides, to gather relevant information from stakeholders.
- Collect, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical methods and software.
- Interpret evaluation findings and provide actionable recommendations to inform programmatic decisions and improve outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate evaluation activities into program planning and implementation processes.
- Communicate evaluation findings through written reports, presentations, and other dissemination channels to diverse audiences, including policymakers, funders, and community stakeholders.
What You Bring:
- Postgraduate or advanced university degree in Public Health, Public Policy, International Development, Economics/Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of extensive expertise and experience in evaluating development programs, with noted experience in gender and conflict-sensitive approaches.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with quantitative, qualitative, and remote data collection methodologies.
- Experience applying participatory monitoring approaches and SMART indicators.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and persuasive reports.
- Familiarity with the local context, dynamics, and structures in South Sudan is an advantage.
- Fluency in English local language(s) is an advantage.
